The Abilities of the Mentally Strong

  • The ability to Let Go. There are many lessons to be learned as we progress daily through our lives. The key here is to be able to release any baggage or hangups that you may have so that you can move on to your next life lesson. Not letting go will only hamper you and hold you back from the potential benefits of your next life lesson.

  • The ability to Embrace Change. As the old saying goes… the only thing that is constant world is change. Since we live in an ever changing world it is important to be able to embrace the changes you will face on a regular basis. This rule follows the ability to let go, as embracing change is the next step in the process.

  • The ability to Stay in Control of your Emotions. Living in your emotions is easy. The hard part (at first) is staying in control of your emotions and not allowing them to control you. When used properly your emotions can enhance any experience you may encounter. The trick is to use them properly and not allow them to control you in your life.

  • The ability to Evaluate Core Beliefs. The ability to evaluate your core beliefs and adjust them as necessary is an important tool. This doesn’t mean your a wishy washy person constantly changing with the flow of the wind. However it does mean when new information presents itself, that you are open minded enough to reevaluate your core beliefs and to adjust them according to the new information that is being presented to you. This one is really about adaptation and growth.

  • The willingness to Take Calculated Risks. There will be times where everything is going smoothly and there is not much required from you as far as making changes is concerned. However, there will be other times where taking a calculated risk is the most beneficial route to your overall growth. The key word here is “calculated“. When one takes the time to weigh out your options out ahead of time, you will be able to have a better view of what lies ahead and can therefore take a much smaller risk than if planing was not part of the equation.

  • The ability to Enjoy Time Alone. Spending time alone might seems scary at times, but ultimately that alone time can be a very healthy for your mental health. Spending time alone away from large crowds gives you the personal time needed to focus and reflect on your thoughts and actions. From here you can build and grow from past experiences without having to worry about the influence of others affecting you. Me time is good time.

  • The ability to Celebrate the Success of Others. It is important to remember it’s not just about you. Life is also about sharing and growing right along side others. When you can release a bit of your ego and embrace the success of others, you can find out how much happier you can be. As they say…sharing is caring, and celebrating the success of others is all part of the growth process.

  • The willingness to Fail and Learn from Mistakes. Since life is about change, there will be good times and there will be bad times. The important thing is to learn from those bad times or mistakes that will occur along the way. Instead of brushing aside the mistakes you make, how about taking the time to reflect and learn from past failures. It will make you a much stronger person overall and allow you to grow and stretch past the previous circumstances you have encountered.

  • The ability to Accept Full Responsibility¬†for Your Actions. This is a big one. It is far easier to point the finger at others and blame them for mistakes that take place as you travel your path. However it is the mature person that realizes they have a part to play in every circumstance they encounter. You may not control every challenge you face in your life but you can control how you react to it. And always remember when you are pointing your finger to place the blame upon others, that you will always have three fingers pointing back at you.

  • The ability to Expend Energy Wisely. This is an important ability as we only have so much energy to expend throughout the day. It is important to keep your energy high with proper sleep, nutrition, and other tools like meditation. Ignore people and circumstances that will drain your energy and keep you down. Using your energy wisely is an important tool in your arsenal for your ultimate success.

  • The ability to Reflect on¬†Accomplishments. Some may just see this as gloating and inflating ones ego but there is much more going on here. When you take the time to reflect on past progress you can evaluate the good and the bad. You can see what went right in a certain situation and what went wrong. From here you can make more informed decisions on anything that may present itself in the future. Reflecting on past progress is also very helpful in building your confidence and resume of accomplishments which can always be looked back upon when you need a jolt of positivity!
