The Eyes Open, Eyes Closed Meditation

How does the Eyes Open, Eyes Closed Meditation Work?

Today I would like to share with you a meditation that I often use to center my self, by balancing my thoughts and emotions. This is done so that we can see more clearly with and without our vision. To begin, close your eyes and take a few slow deep breath’s in and then out…in and then out. Relax. Breathe in deeply once more from the pit of your stomach, hold for a few seconds, and as you breath out open your eyes. Now you are reflecting on your surroundings with your eyes open and aware of all that is going on around you. Simply observe without judgement. We recommend 30 seconds to 3 minutes of eyes open reflection, however you can do this part of the meditation for as long as you see necessary.

The next step is to breath in deeply from the pit of your stomach, hold for a few seconds and then breath out as you close your eyes. Relaxing and being completely in the moment, you begin to observe your other senses minus your sight. What do you smell? How do you feel? What do you see without seeing? Let your thoughts and feelings flow naturally during this stage of the meditation. We recommend 30 seconds to 3 minutes of eyes closed reflection, but you can do this for as long as you feel necessary.

Now we will begin the next step by breathing in deeply once again. after holding for a few seconds you breath out and open your eyes once more. Begin to observe your surroundings once again. How does it feel to see after having your eyes closed for some time? What thoughts cross your mind as your eyes are open and observing all that is around you? Remember to relax and simply observe. We recommend 30 seconds to 3 minutes of eyes open reflection, however you can do this part of the meditation for as long as you see necessary.

From here we will take another deep breath in and hold for a few seconds. As you breath out close your eyes once more and really focus on your thoughts. Focus on your feelings. How do you feel? Do you notice a difference when your eyes are open as opposed to being closed? Is your view of the world changing as you participate in this form of meditation? Take a final deep breath in and then release your breath as you open your eyes to continue your day. Or you can simply decide to keep your eyes closed and remain in thoughtful meditation. You should now feel more calm and centered than before.

As gold purified in a furnace loses its impurities and achieves its own true nature, the mind gets rid of the impurities of the attributes of delusion, attachment and purity through meditation and attains Reality. Adi Shankara

My Eyes Open, Eyes Closed Meditation Experience

My eyes are open and I see…

My eyes are open. I am seeing, observing. Energy is being drawn in as I observer the light, movement, and vibrations all around me. My energy is also being drawn out as I analyze objects with my eyes, my attention is focused. Thoughts are passing through my mind about the nature of reality and the things that I can see. I am interpreting different shapes and spectrum’s of light. Physical reality is open to me as I passively observe. My eyes are open and I see…

My Eyes are closed and I feel…

My eyes are closed. Outer influence has no effect on me. My thoughts are my own and the influence of physical reality has no bearing here. I am am limitless and I am free. Focused are my thoughts without the nuisance outside distractions influencing me. I am what I am, I am all that is me. Everything has a connection that I can clearly see without seeing. Everything is connected and I feel this…know this, even without sight. No, especially without my sight. My energy is neither flowing in or out as I am contained within the wholeness of me. My Eyes are closed and I feel…

Dr. Masaru Emoto and Water

Dr. Masaru Emoto was a Japanese researcher, photographer, and author who wrote many books on the power of human consciousness and the effect it has on water. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Yokohama, Kangawa Prefecture. However, it wasn’t until 1994 that the idea to freeze water and observe it with a microscope under varying conditions was realized.

“To understand water is to understand the cosmos, the marvels of nature, and life itself.” Masaru Emoto

Dr. Masaru Emoto and his Experiments on Water

Dr. Emoto held the belief that water is the template for our physical reality and that emotional energy could change the structure of water. He hypothesized that water could react to positive thoughts and that contaminated water could be revitalized through the power of prayer and positive visualization.

Some of Dr. Emoto’s most well known experiments consisted of exposing water in glass containers to different words, pictures, and / or music. He would then freeze and examine the properties of the water crystals with microscopic photography. Through his experimentation, Dr. Emoto was able to prove that water from pristine locations (virtually unaffected by humans) such as a mountains, rivers and streams produced a more beautiful crystalline design. While water taken from polluted areas near cities showed far more damage to the water crystals design. Still, the most astounding experiments conducted by Dr. Emoto included playing music for water, which caused the crystals in the water to form absolutely beautiful formations.

“Words are the vibrations of nature. Therefore, beautiful words create beautiful nature. Ugly words create ugly nature. This is the root of the universe.” Masaru Emoto

His results confirmed his beliefs that water exposed to positive thoughts and words would result in beautiful crystalline structures, while the negative thoughts and words would result in deformed crystal formations. However as he observed the frozen water he came to realize he never observed the exact same crystals twice. For that reason he did not consider the results of his experiments scientific, but he did consider them to be accurate and true.

Dr. Emoto began sharing his results with the world in his first publication “Messages from Water” in 1999. He continued to publish even more of his findings in various books throughout the following years which included a children’s book that can be download online for free by clicking here.  In 2008, Dr. Emoto published the findings of his experimentation in the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

“Understanding the fact that we are essentially water is the key to uncovering the mysteries of the universe…” Masaru Emoto

Through his work, Dr. Masaru Emoto was able to prove that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. And it is because of this I sometimes question how our thoughts affect our everyday lives and the physical bodies that we inhabit. It is common knowledge that a full grown adult can range from a make-up of 50% to 60% water, while a newborn baby is upwards of 70% water. So I ask… How are your words, thoughts, and emotions affecting you?
