Hair and Spirituality

Does Long Hair Make you a More Spiritual Person?

There have been times where I have wondered… Why is it that most spiritual teachers, guru’s, and mystics have long hair as opposed to short hair? Is it to simply fit a certain style or look that has become associated with mystical teachers? Or is there some type of unseen connection to spirituality and the length of your hair? Something tells me there is a much broader connection between hair and spirituality than we may realize. Let’s take a deeper look and explore the idea behind hair and spirituality.

“I love the feeling of the fresh air on my face and the wind blowing through my hair.” Evel Knievel

A Deeper Look at the Spirituality of Hair

Hair is an extension of the nervous system and can be seen as external nerves, feelers, or antennae. When the hair is cut, sending and receiving information to and from the environment around is hampered. It is believed by many ancient cultures adept in spiritual practice that uncut hair can actually raise your energy / Kundalini life force, leading to increased vitality and intuition. In fact, it was Yogi Bhajan that taught us by cutting your hair, you lose vital energy because the body must use that energy to regrow the lost hair. When the hair remains uncut this vital energy stays within you.

Throughout history it is well known that those who were captured and made to work as slaves were forced to cut their hair as a sign that they no longer possessed their freedom. Chopping off the hair was also seen as punishment as it would deprive the individuality of those who were captured creating a uniform look among all of the enslaved.

Have you ever wondered why the military cuts the hair to very short lengths of all their soldiers? They say that it is to protect soldiers in the rare case that they are captured and tortured by means of their hair. But is this really the case? Could it be that shorter hair makes you more susceptible to being controlled. This is something to reflect upon.

“Our hair fashions might be just a trend, but if we investigate, we may find that we have been depriving ourselves of one of the most valuable sources of energy for human vitality.” -Yogi Bhajan

The Story of Sampson and Delilah

This tale can be found within the bible, in the book of Judges chapter 16. The story of Sampson and Delilah begins by introducing us to a a man from Nazarite who possessed great strength, far beyond that of any other man. Sampson possessed a profound love for a woman that went by the name of Delilah. As the story unfolds, Delilah is bribed by the chief of the Philistines to find the source of Sampson’s strength. Initially Sampson is reluctant to divulge the source of his supreme strength because of his covenant with God.

Eventually, through many attempts at persuasion, Sampson gives in to Delilah and reveals the source of his strength which comes from the length of his hair. Upon hearing this Delilah orders a servant to cut the hair of Sampson while he is sleeping. Because he no longer has his long hair and his covenant with God is broken, Sampson loses his God given strength and is returned to that of a mere mortal. Captured and broken by this betrayal Sampson calls upon God to give him strength one final time so that he may topple the palace destroying himself and all of those around him.

My Take: Long Hair and Spirituality

The hair on your head and face can also protect you from the environmental conditions around you. Your hair can help to protect you from extreme conditions such as overexposure to the sun, or harsh weather conditions such as wind, rain, or the cold. All in all, the Creator gave us hair for a purpose and it is meant to be grow naturally. We all have the option to cut our hair and style it as we please because that is our free will. I however intend to let my hair grow freely the way the Creator intended. All the best to you and yours.

Cymatics: Vibrations and Sound

A Brief History of Cymatics

Cymatics stands for wave, or the study of wave phenomena through visual representation. Galileo Galilei was among the first to experiment with cymatics around the year of 1630. However it wasn’t until later that the term “cymatics” would be created by a Swiss gentleman with the name of Hans Jenny.

If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. Nikola Tesla

What is Cymatics and How Does it Work?

Cymatics is the visual representation of sound vibrations. Most often, fine sand particles or a liquid is placed upon a vibrating surface. The surface is then tuned to different frequqncies causing the sand / liquid to form different shapes based upon the specific frequqncy of vibration. When the frequency of vibration is shifted to a different range, the sand or liquid responds by forming the coresponding shape asociated with a specific sound frequency being played. The act of bringing matter to life visually… This is known as cymatics.

Divine sound is the cause of all manifestation. The knower of the mystery of sound knows the mystery of the whole universe. Hazrat Inayat Khan

Cymatics, What Does it All Mean?

Through the use of cymatics we are able to see certain patterns appear on the vibrating plate that are commonly see all around us on a daily basis. From the shape of microscopic cells and organisms, to the design of human anatomy, even certain species of animals and aquatic life. All the way up to planets, stars, solar systems, galaxies, the universe and more. There is a deep connection to matter and the vibration it accompanies.

The implications here are quiet astounding. With the visual representation of sound waves through the use of cymatics one can speculate that much more is going on that we are capable of experiencing with our five senses, specifically sight and sound. Could it be that this reality that we find ourselves engrossed in is just a specific frequency range? Could it be that there are other, possibly countless realities or “ranges of frequency” that exist just outside of our reality or frequency range?

These are some truly powerful ideas to consider, but I’ve said enough for now. I would love to hear your ideas on these matters. Feel free to spark the conversation and share your ideas below. As always, all the best to you and yours.

The Power of the 12 Universal Laws

As human beings, we know that there are certain laws that exist on this earth that we must all abide by. Such as the law of gravity, i.e. what goes up must come down. But what if I was to tell you there is another set of laws that affect us everyday of our lives that you probably know little to nothing about. A set of laws that nature abides by called universal laws. Well, these laws are exactly what we will be discussing today… The Power of the 12 Universal Laws!

Nature, when left to universal laws, tends to produce regularity out of chaos. Immanuel Kent

The 12 Universal Laws

The Law of Divine Oneness – The first law of the universal laws tells us that not only are we all separate, but we are also connected as all is of the one. We’re all created different yet equal as we are all part of the divine source. This means our thoughts, actions, and beliefs not only have an effect on our lives, but can and do affect the universe around us as well.

The Law of Vibration – Everything is moving (vibrating) in patterns, some noticeable, others not as much, yet the movement is still occurring. Our thoughts, dreams, feelings, and actions all carry a certain vibration with them. Everything at its core is vibration, similar to a sine wave. Moving up and then down, up again and then down again, completing the pattern. This is the law of vibration.

The Law of Action – The third law is the law of action. This law requires us to not only think the thoughts in our minds, but to follow through with physical action in order to complete the process. To put it more simply the law of action is all about manifesting your intentions. Bringing intangible thought into physical reality.

The Law of Correspondence – This one has to do with both the physical and immaterial worlds. That is to say principles in this world also have corresponding principles in the non-physical world. Much like your inner world (thoughts, feelings) have an effect on your outer world. The law of correspondence is no different.

The Law of Cause and Effect – We have all heard the saying what you put out is what you get back. What this means nothing happens by accident as there is always an effect created by the cause. Every action will bring you and equal and opposite reaction to complete the process. Some people consider this law to be connected with Karma.

The Law of Compensation – This law is closely tied in to the law of cause and effect and applies to abundance flowing into our lives. The law of compensation is the direct effect of our actions causing visible manifestation. It can also be seen as the positive benefits of karma, or simply good intentions causing positive feedback to flow into your life.

The Law of Attraction – Our thoughts have the power to affect our reality and this is what the law of attraction is all about. Negative energy brings negativity the same way positive energy brings positivity. The law of attraction is like 2 magnets clinging together, or more simply put…about like attracting like.

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy – Energy can be transmuted or changed based upon your desire. Therefore you have the power to change your current circumstances and “transmute” them into what it is that you truly desire. If your intentions are focused and your desire is strong, you will eventually get what it is that you want. Higher vibrations can and will transmute lower energies. This is the law of transmutation.

The Law of Relativity – Refers to the challenges that we must face in our everyday lives. It is not about succumbing to these challenges but instead it is about overcoming them through our positive thoughts and actions. When your perspective is in the proper place you see life for what it is and everything becomes relative to the perspective you align with.

The Law of Polarity – Has to do with the duality we face in this reality. For everything that exists there is an opposite that also exists. This is known as the opposition to all things. Positive and negative, light and dark, male and female, etc. Polarity exists, but in most cases it can be transmuted. Therefore if you desire to move from negativity to positivity it is possible through the law of polarity.

The Law of Rhythm – In the same way rhythm is about movement, The law of rhythm is about vibration and the flow that this creates. Much like the cycle of changing seasons or the flow of the waves in the ocean there is a rhythm that exists to these occurrences. So too is there a rhythm to different stages that present themselves throughout our lives. Mastering the law of rhythm will facilitate in creating a continuous flow in the direction you so choose for your life.

The Law of Gender – The basis for all creation, the law of gender refers to the yin vs yang qualities that make up this reality. Believe it or not each male contains feminine qualities just as each female contains masculine qualities. The trick to the law of gender is to find a balance between these two qualities within yourself. One should strive to not be too far out of sync with the other. With the law of gender, balance is the key.

You’ll be happy to know that the universal law that created miracles hasn’t been repealed. Wayne Dyer

My Take: The 12 Universal Laws

Now that you know of the Universal Laws and have been given a guide to the meaning behind them, it is up to you to begin applying them to your life as you see fit. Each law teaches a specific lesson that can be applied to various aspects of your life. Take the list of 12 and begin reflecting upon the laws one at a time, until you receive your own personal realization. One per week is a great starting point when applying these laws to your self. I say one per week because it takes time to see how each law applies to you and your life as you live it. You can always go for longer but 7 days is generally enough time to clearly see the changes and experience how they can / will affect you. If you have any questions be sure to ask them in the comments below. All the best to you and your ongoing journey of progression in this life.

Live your life as though your every act were to become a universal law. Immanuel Kant

The Mandela Effect

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in Mvezo, South Africa on July 18, 1918. Showing himself to be a individual that lead by example, he was imprisoned for his beliefs in 1962 and held for the next 27 years of his life. Upon release, Nelson Mandela served as president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. During his life, Nelson Mandela was an anti-apartheid revolutionary, political figure, and eventually passed away on December 5th, 2013 at the ripe old age of 95 in Gauteng, South Africa.

“Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” Nelson Mandela

What is the Mandella Effect

The Mandela Effect is a term used to describe an issue where a group of people have a memory of events that occurred a certain way. However when observed more closely, history tells of the events occurring differently than the group of people had remembered them. This phenomena has been named after the man, Nelson Mandela because many people have the memory of him dying in prison during the 1980’s. Yet, when observed through the eyes of history we are told that was not the case. In 2010, Fiona Broome came up with the term “Mandela Effect” as she realized many others shared the same memory as her, that Mandela had never been released and in fact died in prison.

A List of Popular Mandela Effects

    • Nelson Mandela died in prison or died many years later?

“We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.” Nelson Mandela

Mandela Effect: My Take

For me, the Mandela Effect is not so easily brushed off as a mere trick of the mind or a simple misremembering. I for one can recall a couple of the examples above as the way they were and not the way they currently are. As a child in elementary school, we received the scholastic book club newsletter on a monthly basis. One of the prominently featured books for sale was often the Barenstein Bears Collection. I intentionally use the spelling “Barenstein” with an “E” since as a child I saw them as Jewish bears because of their last name. Like the Jewish last names of Feldstein or Goldstein, I saw the Barenstein Bears as Jewish bears. Nothing wrong with this of course, I only bring it up to explain how I remembered them. There was never an “A” there from my recollection. My brother agrees with me as he also bought some of the Berenstein books during his time at the same school.

It is important to remember that with the ME, this is not a singular event that is occurring. Large groups of people are having the exact same memories that are clearly different from what occurred. And we’re not just talking about a select group of individuals. Instead of brushing it off as bad memory, we should seriously consider that if even one of these memories is in fact the way that we remember it and reality has changed, then we are on to something really big. All it takes is one ME to be wrong for us to realize something here is not quiet right.

Ultimately, no one can tell you what is right or wrong when it comes to your memory. I know memories can be prone to mistakes as everyone has their own perspective of an event that occurred including their added coloration of the events, but the ME is more than that. Sure, it’s easy to just shrug it off as a simple misremembering of past events, but it’s time we look a bit deeper. Something very interesting is occurring at this time on planet earth and it goes by the name of… The Mandela Effect!

The Great Cycle of Yugas

Before we begin it is important to note that in this reality, everything moves in cycles. The Sun and Moon bring us visual proof of the cycles of day and night. The four seasons provide us the cycle of a full years time through Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. As human beings we are born into this world and when it is our time to go, we eventually pass on. These are cycles every human being is aware of and lives through regardless of their age. Today I would like to discuss another cycle that you may not be aware of. The Great Cycle of Yugas!

“The Tapas and the other hard Yogas that were practiced in other Yugas do not work now. What is needed in this Yuga is giving, helping others.” Swami Vivekananda

What is the Great Cycle of Yugas

According to the Hindu religion there are many different ages going back all the way to the beginning of time, both large and small. The smallest of these cycles is called a Maha Yuga which is approximately 4,320,000 years. A single Kala consists of 4 Yugas or an epoch in time. The first Yuga is the Satya Yuga. Second is the Treta Yuga. Third is the Dvapara YugaSatya Yuga. Second is the Treta Yuga. Third is the Dvapara Yuga. And the fourth is the Kali Yuga. One complete cycle of the four yugas is approximately 4.32 million years. Each maha yuga is subdivided into four ages lengths with ratios of 4:3:2:1

Satya Yuga (Golden Age) approx. 4,800 years [Great Year Cycle] / 1,780,000 years [Cycle of Yugas] – Also known as “The Age of Truth” or “The Age of Unity” the Satya Yuga is a time where the absolute best ideals of humanity reign supreme. The highest of all the ages, this age represents divine consciousness. Space and time is seen for the illusion it is and human beings strive to be their best, living up to our maximum potential. There is no need for fighting or wars as we are all living at peace with one another. No one has to work or struggle to survive as thoughts are easily manifest. Living in complete harmony with nature, it is believed that death during this age only comes when one so desires. The Satya Yuga is 100% Light and 0% Dark.

Treta Yuga (Silver Age) approx. 3,600 years [GYC] / 1,296,000 years [COY] – Also known as “The Mental Age” is a period that consists of much more light than it does dark. We live in service to others as telepathy, intuition, clairvoyance and empathy are present and available to all that are willing to access it. During this period we become a bit more materialistic and slightly less spiritual than we were in the previous age. With an life expectancy of 10,000 years, the Tetra Yuga is 75% Light and 25% Dark.

Dvapara Yuga (Bronze Age) approx. 2,400 years [GYC] / 864,000 years [COY] – Also known as the “Age of Energy” or the “Electrical Age” is an age where spirituality and physicality are split between the two. With the loss of our higher facilities, machines are used to manipulate matter to our desires. Divine intellect is much more difficult to obtain, and we become pleasure seeking creatures. Because our connection is more severed during this age than previous ages, illness and disease come into play within our lives much more than before. With an life expectancy of 1,000 years, the Dvapara Yuga is equally 50% Light and 50% Dark.

Kali Yuga (Iron Age) approx. 1,200 years [GYC] / 432,000 years [COY] – Also known as the “Material Age” or the “Dark Age” the Kali Yuga is the lowest of all the ages as we become even more separate from our divine nature. During this period humanity sinks to the nethermost form of itself, allowing wickedness to be expressed in many ways previously unseen. The Immoral Age of Iron is the shortest and and darkest time of the Yugas. With a life expectancy of 100 to 120 years, the Kali Yuga is 25% Light and 75% Dark.

“Kali yuga is so much saturated with vicious habits that there is a great fight at the slightest of misunderstanding.” Radhanath Swami

Once this cycle is complete it begins again, however this time instead of going form top to bottom we now go from bottom to top. So rather than a decent into increased darkness from the Satya Yuga down to the Kali Yuga, we now move from the Kali Yuga up to the Satya Yuga in stages of increasing consciousness. Down from light to dark and then up from darkness to the light. Similar to a sine wave, going from highest to lowest energy then back from lowest energy to the highest. This coincides with the original point that everything moves in complete cycles. Always repeating itself, The Great Cycle of Yugas is no different.

What can we expect from The Great Cycle of Yugas?

You may notice the negative aspect of the yugas only consists of one third of the time within The Great Cycle of Yugas while the positive aspect consists of two thirds of the time. I believe the idea behind this is that darkness always loses eventually, but is never completely defeated. Winning a few battles along the way, but ultimately losing the war in due time.

The Great Cycle of Yugas is a continuous cycle descending from light into the darkness and then ascending up again from the darkness into the light. Polarity is one of the key factors in this reality we find ourselves engrossed in. It is our job live to the best of our abilities regardless of which age of polarity we may reside in. Like any belief system it is up to you to come to your own conclusions on The Cycle of Ages and how this knowledge will affect you personally. Wishing you all the best to you and yours on this journey of life family. Peace.
